How are conversion rates calculated?
Each stage-to-stage rate is the next stage's count divided by the previous stage's count (e.g. screened ÷ applicants). "Applicants per hire" is total applicants divided by total hires.
How does the target-hires backward calculation work?
It applies your own stage-to-stage conversion rates in reverse: starting from your target hire count, it divides by each stage's conversion rate going backward to estimate how many candidates you'd need at every earlier stage, including total applicants.
What if a stage has a 0% conversion rate?
The backward calculation for every stage upstream of a 0% conversion is left blank rather than shown as a number — dividing by a 0% rate would require an undefined (effectively infinite) number of candidates.
